Rita C. Hodges has departed us to join her loved ones in eternal peace. She passed surrounded by her devoted, loving husband Richard “Rit” of sixty-one years; her daughter Lisa Reda of Norwalk and Lisa’s husband, Lou; her daughter Jill O’Connor of Danbury; and her three beloved grandchildren, Rachel Reda, Jack O’Connor, and Elizabeth Reda. She is also survived by her son, Richard W. Hodges and his children, Ricky and Jessica Hodges.
Rita was born on October 9, 1937 in Norwalk. Her parents, Aneillo Cuillo and Christine Tocci predeceased her as well as her brothers, Salvatore "Sal", Frederick "Freddie", and Edward "Baby Eddie" Ciullo and her sister, Marie Antoinette (David) Cifatte. Her brother, John (Patricia) Cuillo of Norwalk, and sister, Phylamena "Phyliss" Reddington of VA survive her.
Rita lived in Norwalk all of her life surrounded by many family members and cherished friends. She enjoyed cooking, fine dining, the beach, reading, dancing, playing cards and shopping with her daughters. Her most precious times were spent with her beloved grandchildren.
Rita worked as a Senior Mortgage Loan Officer at Norwalk Savings Society after raising her children. She volunteered for many years at the Norwalk Hospital, Intensive Care Unit, as her calling had always been to help the sick and support their bereaved loved families. She was also a volunteer for the American Heart Association. The family gives special thanks to the endless care she received from her caregiver, Carrie, the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Association or Fairfield County as well as Dr. Ralph Cipriani.
The family welcomes anyone who wishes to join in the celebration of Rita’s life at the Magners Funeral Home, 10 Mott Avenue, Norwalk at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, Attn: Development Dept. P. O. Box 489, Wilton, CT 06897 or the American Heart Association.
