Thomas "Tom" Joseph Blankemeier

     Thomas Joseph Blankemeier, Sr. age 60 of Southport, CT, died peacefully at his home on June 15, 2019.  He was the loving husband of Rebecca “Becky” Surran Blankemeier.  Tom was born on February 10, 1959 in Hinsdale, IL, the son of Lorraine Rigert Blankemeier and the late Louis C. Blankemeier.  Tom was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1977 and the University of Rhode Island, Class of 1982 where he majored in Commercial Fisheries/Marine Technology.  Tom shared some of his happiest professional moments as a lobsterman on Long Island Sound.  A career he enjoyed for more than two decades. He later took his love of all things maritime and fisheries into a successful seafood wholesaling business, among other entrepreneurial ventures.

In addition to his wife Becky, Tom is survived by his loving children William T. Blankemeier, his wife Aliya and their son Kai, Kaitlin M. Schnepf and her husband Ryan, Robert L. Blankemeier and Thomas J. Blankemeier, Jr., his siblings John Blankemeier and his wife Susie, William Blankemeier and his wife Julie, and Mary Blankemeier Davis, mother and father-in-law Boyd and Carole Surran, brothers and sisters-in-law Diane and Robert McGuire, Tom and Elia Surran, Chris and Tiffany Surran, and fifteen nieces and nephews.

A private memorial mass and service will be held in the fall.
