Virginia Smith Clinchy, age 88 of Norwalk, died peacefully at the CT Hospice in Branford on March 21st, 2018. She was the wife of the late Kenneth S. Clinchy. Virginia was born in Yonkers, NY on April 15, 1929, the daughter of the late Archibald and Mary Smith.
Virginia is survived by her children and their spouses Ken and Kristina Clinchy of Texas, Virginia Jarmoszko of Hamden, Elizabeth and Steven Bavaria of Florida, Theresa Halloran of Wallingford and David Clinchy of Norwalk; her brother Joseph Smith of Florida, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was an active mother, grandmother, dog lover, antique collector, artist and parishioner of St. Joseph. Her and her husband were founding members of the Roton Point Beach Club, where you could her find on most summer days. Sitting in the grove, overlooking Long Island Sound and celebrating many a summer holiday with her family was one of her favorite activities.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 85 S. Main St. in Norwalk at 9:am on Friday March 23,2018 with burial to follow at St. John’s Cemetery. For all those able to join a brunch will be celebrated in Virginia’s honor at a place to be determined. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations in Virginia’s name to the Norwalk Senior Center (http://www.norwalkseniorcenter.org/) or Connecticut Hospice (http://Hospice.com).
