Charles Batterson Obituary

Charles Arthur Batterson, Jr., 89, passed away on April 23, 2020.  He was born on July 2, 1930 in Stamford, CT to the late Charles Arthur Batterson, Sr. and Isabelle Burns Batterson. He graduated in 1948 from Stamford High School.  Charlie joined the Army and was in the Korean War, where he was trained as a Medic and received two Bronze Stars, National Defense Service medal, and United Nations Service medal. 

 

Charlie was a licensed Plumber.  He started his own company: Batterson Plumbing and Heating and serviced Fairfield County for over 30 years.  In 1959 he married Marian Herman and lived in Norwalk, CT.  They were happily married for 35 years.  He has also lived in Hamden, North Haven, and Trumbull, CT.  He loved spending time and laughing with his family and friends, traveling with his friend Bernard, football, music, and building things. 

 

He is survived by his children: Robert & Colleen Batterson (Shelton, CT) and Carol Ann & Christopher Mandras (Norwalk, CT), his four grandchildren: Aaron, Kimberly, Dylan, and Jason, his sister Charlotte Bazydola (Ridgefield, CT), and his many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his wife Marian Herman Batterson (Norwalk, CT), and his sister Eleanor Batterson Coons (Collierville, Tennessee).

 

Charlie will be buried next to his wife Marian at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk with a private graveside service.  Memorial donations in his name may be made to the  American Heart Association (https://www.heart.org/).
