Omobono Dominic Nicolia, 92, of Norwalk, died on December 20, 2018 in Norwalk. Born in Frosinone, Italy, the son of the late Tomasso and Anna (Marini) Nicolia, he was the beloved husband of Filomena (Zerizotti) Nicolia for 69 years.
Dominic worked for Deering Construction, and was a member of the Sons of Italy, Knights of Columbus, and St. Ann’s Club. He was an avid ballroom dancer and accordion player, and enjoyed making wine and playing Bocci.
In addition to his loving wife Filomena, Dominic is survived by his daughters, Elena Sheehan and her husband John of Norwalk, and Ann Proffitt of Easton, 4 cherished grandchildren: Kimberly and Rebecca Sheehan, Justin Proffitt and his fiancée Nicole Rossetti, and Jonathan Proffitt, as well as a brother, Gildo Nicolia of Monroe and several nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, Dec 23 from 3-6 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd, Norwalk, with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery.
