Dorothy Gilbert

Dorothy A. Gilbert, 85, died on Monday, October 5, 2020, at her home in Norwalk. Born in White Plains, NY, the daughter of the late John and Dorothy (DeHart) Carbrey, she was the loving wife of the late Daniel J. Gilbert, and was also predeceased by her daughter Kathleen Ann Hewitt.   Dorothy worked in Sales for C.R. Gibson for 18 years until the company closed.  Dottie, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was an active member of the Woman's Club of Norwalk, the Red Hat Society and many other community organizations.  Taking great pride in working at the election polls in Cranbury for many years.   She enjoyed meeting with friends at The Green and the beach to listen to live bands.  She was a skilled baker.  Taking home many first in show ribbons for her famously delicious lemon bars.  
Dorothy is survived by her sons Daniel John Gilbert IV and John Patrick Gilbert and his wife Aurelia, two cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Matthew Gilbert.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road in Norwalk, with graveside services to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
