Dorothy Pramer Obituary

Dorothy M. Pramer, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2022, at her home in Norwalk with the support and prayers from her family and friends. Dorothy was Born in Norwalk on April 4, 1931, to the late Joseph and Julia (Gajdosik) Pramer. She was sister to the late Joseph (Skip) Pramer. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1949 and Teachers College of Connecticut in 1953. In 1966 she received her master’s at Fairfield University. Dorothy taught at Brookside Elementary School from 1953 to 1991, primarily at the first-grade level, impacting the lives of many who now reside in Norwalk and surrounding areas. Her passion for teaching extended into her family relationships. The gifts she gave, the advice she offered, and the activities she discussed with her entire family centered around educational materials. She spent hours selecting age-appropriate educational books, always personally inscribed, and gave them with love on every birthday and holiday. During her heyday she became an accomplished ballroom dancer and participated in the many programs at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Darien, Connecticut, where she made lifelong friendships. She thoroughly enjoyed her many vacations in Vermont and Florida. She personally designed her home to serve her life needs in her own unique style and had it built adjacent to the house shared by her parents and her aunt and uncle, the late Joe and Marge Gajdosik. As a homeowner, she became passionate in gardening, engaging her cousin, Marie-Anne Gajdosik, as well as her grandnephews in planting several perennial beds that blossomed throughout the year. She proudly enjoyed sharing and discussing her plants with family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her nephews, niece, and their spouses: Joseph (Chip) Pramer (MaryAnn), Tim Pramer (Kathy), Dave Pramer (DeeDee), and Donna Kremidas (Dean). She was also survived by her sister-in-law Joyce (Pramer) Steinhoff and her husband George and blessed with 12 grand nieces and nephews as well as a great grand niece and nephew. A special thank you to all of Dorothy’s compassionate caregivers over the past year, most especially to the Marcee Professional Home Care Agency who took extraordinary care of her during her final days. A Memorial Service in celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 10:00am at St. Ladislaus Church in Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Ladislaus Church, 25 Cliff Street, Norwalk, CT 06854.
