Edward Thomas Fitzgerald, age 79 of Norwalk, died peacefully at his home after a brave battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Mary J. (Bannon) Fitzgerald. Edward was born in Stamford on July 6, 1941, the son of the late Edward A. and Nancy (Grimaldi) Fitzgerald. He worked for 35 years as a Fire Fighter in Stamford and served his country during the Viet Nam War in the Air Force. Edward enjoyed carpentry, crossword puzzles and nature. He was a kind and compassionate man who dearly loved his family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include 3 children, Jennifer A. Fitzgerald, Edward J. Fitzgerald and Mary M. Fitzgerald, his brother John Fitzgerald, his sister Nancy Harrison, grandson Alan Kamba and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 11, 10 AM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien. Edward’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 PM.
