Eileen Urda Obituary

Eileen M. Urda, age 93, of Highland, NY, formerly of Norwalk, entered eternal life on Sunday, October 31, 2021 in Highland, NY. Born in Norwalk, the daughter of the late Rupert Bertram and Margaret Frances (O’Connor) Barton, she was predeceased by her husband John Urda, as well as her sister Laura Kinne and brother Harold Barton; and several sister/brother-in-laws as well as several nieces/nephews.

Eileen attended Norwalk High School and Norwalk Community College.  She worked as a seamstress for the Norwalk Mattress Company and Rabor Robes.  She also worked for the Merchant’s Bank and Union Trust before retiring in 1990 from Nash Engineering’s finance department.

Eileen was a volunteer with the Mother’s March of Dimes serving as campaign chairperson in her area.  She was also involved in the Norwalk 4-H clubs serving as a club leader, Norwalk Council President and member of the Fairfield County 4-H Council.  Eileen was an accomplished seamstress and cook.  She loved to spend time with her family and often visited or stayed with family members that were homebound.  Her family and friends remember her as a sweet and kind lady who was always willing to listen.

Eileen is survived by her daughter Margaret "Peg" Wright and son-in-law Wayne (New Windsor, NY) as well as grandson Steven Wright (Taunton, MA).  She is also survived by Nieces, Patricia Zschack and Laura Jennings (Roscoe, NY); and nephews Daniel Zevola (Bardonia, NY), Fred Urban (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) and Michael Urda (Wesley Chapel, FL).  She leaves behind 15 Great Nieces/Nephews; 22 Great, Great Nieces/Nephews; and 26 Great, Great, Great Nieces/Nephews as well as many other loving family members and friends.

Her family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 10-11 AM, with Funeral Services, officiated by Pastor Michael O’Dowd to begin at 11AM. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Norwalk.
