Elisabeth Allen Walker died in Redding, CT on January 10th 2021, just shy of her 86th birthday. Born in St. Louis and raised in Columbus, OH, Mrs. Walker was a loving mother and devoted grandmother to thirteen grandchildren. A graduate of The College of Wooster, Mrs. Walker spent many years as Director of Volunteers, first at Jefferson Hospital, then Hahnemann Hospital and later at The Philadelphia Orchestra. She had a beautiful singing voice and had always sung with professional choruses, the last being the Fairfield County Chorale. Mrs. Walker was a notable needlewoman. Her crewel embroidery, counted cross-stitch, and bargello projects have been distributed among her family. Mrs. Walker was a great party planner, hostess, and a fabulous cook. Her only culinary failings were her pork chops and love of Spangler Circus Peanuts. Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughters, Doon Foster of Wilton, CT and Dana Allen of Ipswich, MA, a son-in-law, John, a brother, William, and a dear cousin and her husband. Of her thirteen grandchildren, two predeceased her. Her first husband, John, and her second husband, Robert, both predeceased her. She also leaves four step-daughters and their families. A memorial service plan will be forthcoming. An avid gardener, Mrs. Walker’s ashes will be placed in her beloved garden.
