Enos Roy Ashman, 95, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his loving family on July, 10, 2021. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, the son of the late Hubert Ashman and Kathleen (Ffrench) Ashman Pixley, he was also predeceased by his wife, Jean (Southard) Ashman, his sister, Pearline (Ashman) Campo, his stepfather George Pixley, his granddaughter, Tiana Ashman; and his best friends Byron and Faye Smith.
Roy (or Barry, as many knew him), pursued undergraduate studies in Dentistry. However, he decided to take a different path, and had a fulfilling and successful career in Textile Manufacturing and Machinery.
He enjoyed nature, animals, and a love for gardening. Not only did he have a prolific garden at home, but he was a member of the local Community Cooperative Garden Club for many years. He cherished his friendships and would often spend time entertaining those who came to visit. Roy was a dedicated, hard worker that relished his ability to be hands-on in all his endeavors, especially when it came to cars and machinery. He could fix just about anything. Roy also liked traveling, fishing, and the occasional casino trip.
He will be remembered for his love of his kids and family, for his immense kindness towards all, his positive outlook on life, and his exquisite sense of humor. Roy was a strong, supportive, and caring man with a truly beautiful soul.
He is survived by his five children, Helen Lucia Ashman, Charmaigne Ashman Samoska, Patrick Ashman, Jeffrey Roy Ashman and his wife Tracie Ashman, Amber Melanie Ashman, his cherished grandchildren: Catherine Ashman-Arrango, Michael-Charles Samoska, Vania Samoska, Ariana Ashman and Avery Moses Ashman, as well as his brother Frederick Ashman, his nieces and nephews, Lynne Villerte, Theresa Thorton, David Ashman, Robert Ashman, his life long friend, Carmen (Ada) Garcia, the mother of his children, Daisy Madrid, and his beloved grandpuppy, Diamond Ashman, along with other loving relatives.
His family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Friday, July 16, 2021 at St. Matthews Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, with burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, 127-15 Kew Gardens Road, Queens, NY.
