Enrico Sparagna Obituary

Enrico Sparagna, 90, beloved husband of Rosa (Laracca) Sparagna, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 17, 2023. He was born in Minturno, Italy on July 15, 1932 to the late Mario Guiseppe and Lucia (Alicandro) Sparagna.

Enrico and Rosa immigrated to the United States in 1961, settling in Norwalk where they raised their family together.   He was a master mason in the Fairfield County area throughout his working life.  He enjoyed reading, winemaking, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Enrico is survived by his four daughters: Luciana Mazzo (Scott), Maria Polidore (Mark), Valeria Martin (Jon) and Anna MacIver (Chris). He also leaves behind four siblings; Ferdinando Sparagna, Matilda (Sparagna) Ionta, Antonio Sparagna, and Michele Sparagna as well as his grandchildren; Steve and Erica Mazzo, Robert, Victoria, and Danielle Martin, and Jack, Ryan, and Luke MacIver and his great grandchildren; Sofia, Stella, Antonio, and Cara. In addition to his parents, Enrico was predeceased by his eldest grandson Joseph Mazzo but is survived by his late grandson’s wife Emma.

He was a man of few words who loved his family and enjoyed the simple things – good food, good wine, and his family.  Enrico was blessed with good health all of his life until he was diagnosed with late-stage cancer in April of this year. He chose to live out the remainder of his life at home surrounded by his loved ones.  He leaves behind, family, friends, and relatives who will all miss him.  Rest in peace, Enrico, Dad, Papa – we love you.

His family will receive friends on Sunday May 21, 2023 from 3-5 pm at the Magner Funeral Home 12 Mott Ave. Norwalk, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday May 22, 10:30 am at St. Matthew Church 216 Scribner Ave. Norwalk followed by interment at St. Johns Cemetery 223 Richards Ave. Norwalk.
