Gary Robert Cimino passed away Monday, June 21 after a four year battle with prostate cancer at age 65. He grew up in Kensington, CT and graduated from Berlin High school in 1973. He continued on to get a degree in electrical engineering from Waterbury State Technical College.
Gary was well known for his work ethic. He went from working on a farm as a teenager to working as an electrical engineer at Vectron to opening his own business in 1985, C&G Woodcraft. He specialized in cabinetry and millwork before transitioning the business after the recession to reproducing vintage autowood. He was a perfectionist by nature and it showed in the beauty of his work.
Over the years, Gary was an avid motorcyclist and car enthusiast. His green thumb was well known with friends and family, producing a robust garden every year. He passed on an appreciation of music to his children and even took piano lessons for a few years as an adult. Always a lover of animals, he could easily connect with all kinds, from the nine dogs he had over the years to the strays that he took in.
He was predeceased by his wife, Charlene. Gary is survived by his parents, Joseph and Helen Cimino (Kensington, CT), sister Lori Boswell (Rocky Hill, CT), and three children: Lauren Cimino, Nicholas Cimino, and Madeline Cimino McCann (husband Michael), and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome at Magner's Funeral Home on Sunday July 11 from 10am to 12pm for calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary's memory can be directed to Northshore Animal League. (www.animalleague.org)
