Georgia Raftis Kassimis, age 78, of Norwalk, died peacefully with her two sons by her side at Norwalk Hospital on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. She was the loving wife of her late husband James Aristotle Kassimis for 60 years. Georgia was born on January 3, 1944 in Tragano, Patras, Greece, the daughter of the late Dionisios and Mary Raftis and came to America at the age of 5. She worked for many years as a waitress at the Family Diner in Norwalk where she served everyone with a smile and treated every customer as family.
Survivors include two sons; Aristotle “Artie” Kassimis and his wife Janice, Dennis Kassimis and his wife Cindy, 6 grandchildren, James Kassimis and his wife Lauren, Christopher Kassimis and his fiancé Marcella, Alyssa Kassimis and her fiancé Nick, Michael Kassimis, Georgia-Nicolette Kassimis and her fiancé Luis, and Ariana Kassimis; Three great-grandchildren, Kallie, Mateo, and Kaya; her brother Nicholas Raftis, Louis Raftis, and predeceased by her brother Fred Raftis; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws that she loved very much.
The Kassimis family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk on Sunday, Jan. 23, from 4-7. A funeral service will be held at Word Alive Church, 563 West Ave., Norwalk, on Monday at 11am followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery.
