Grace Theresa Calzone Smith, beloved mother and “Gigi”, died peacefully on January 17, 2023. She is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Smith. Lifelong residents of Norwalk, Grace and Dick moved to Brightview Senior Living in Shelton in 2020.
Grace was born July 2, 1932, to the late Frank and Rose Calzone. She is predeceased by eight siblings whom she considered her closest friends. She attended Norwalk High School and retired from the former Empire Furniture store in Wilton, where she worked as a part-time bookkeeper and saleswoman for over 30 years.
Grace was a long-time member of the St. Ann Club and Sons of Italy, and through the years, enjoyed volunteering at many of Norwalk’s community events.
Above all things, Grace treasured the time she spent with her family. She was committed to the happiness and well-being of her husband, children, grands, and great-grands, and consistently put their needs above her own with love and a 1,000-watt smile. Being amid her large loving “famiglia” was a gift that gave Grace immeasurable pride and joy.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two beloved daughters, Donna Moylan and husband Tom and Lisa Juhl and fiance Bruce; her grandchildren Lindsay (Adam) Cohen, Steven (Danielle) Moylan, Macey (Kevin) Collison, and Nick Juhl; as well as great-grandchildren Andrew, Emily, Mickey, Raymond, and Danny. She is also survived by 22 loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at BrightView (Shelton), the Angel’s Care Agency (Stamford), and Caring Hospice (Stamford). A celebration of Grace’s life will be announced at a later date. Contributions in Grace’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project.
