Helen I. (Higgins) Pryor

Helen Irene Pryor, 86, died on May 16, 2021 at Norwalk Hospital.  Born on May 16, 1935, in Water Valley, Mississippi, Helen was the youngest of six children.  At age 7, she traveled with her parents - Newt and Pearl Higgins - and older sister Frances across country, ultimately settling in San Diego, California.  There she met her husband Jay Pryor and together had a son - Jeff.  Jay passed away in 1989 and Helen worked various jobs in payroll and accounting over the years.  She enjoyed writing fiction, as well as reading about history and politics.  She was an avid Democrat and took pride in her never missing a chance to vote.  In 2015, she moved to South Salem, NY, with her son, his wife, and her two grandchildren whom she helped raise until her passing and were especially close to her heart.  She lived in South Salem until she passed.

Helen is survived by her son, Jeff Pryor, his wife Mindy, and her two grandchildren - Jack and Ellie.

Memorial services will be held privately at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California at a later date.
