Jeanne M. (McConachie) Orlowski

Jeanne M. [McConachie] Orlowski passed into eternal rest on Friday, March 10th, at the age of 96. Jeanne was born and raised in Bridgeport, later moving to Fairfield where she resided for more than 60 years. Jeanne was a graduate of Norwalk Hospital’s School of Nursing, following which she enjoyed a long and diversified career as a registered nurse, working until the age of 71. In her spare time and in retirement, Jeanne was an avid sports’ fan who had a keen memory for sports trivia and stats, she enjoyed traveling, and she was a voracious reader of newspapers and novels. Her Catholic faith, including prayer, comprised an integral part of her life, helping her get through the trials of daily life, as well as through her recent illness. Jeanne was a regular attendee at weekly Mass during her working years, attending daily Mass upon retirement, and enjoying the televised Mass in her later years.

Jeanne was predeceased by her spouse, Walter C. Orlowski, Sr.  Survivors include a son, Rev. Msgr. Walter C. Orlowski, of Norwalk, two daughters, Carol Colburn of Fairfield, and Joan [and William] Joyce of Shelton, and two grandchildren, Collin and Shannon Colburn, of New York and Fairfield respectively.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Magner Funeral Home, Norwalk, CT. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 17, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Matthew Parish, Norwalk.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 18th, at 11 a.m., at St. Matthew Parish, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to St. Matthew Parish, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, CT, in Jeanne’s name, or to Al’s Angels at alsangels.org.
