Obituary

Joan Matula, age 90, passed away on Monday, August 28th, 2023 at Norwalk Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Matula. She was born in Port Chester, NY on August 28th, 1933, daughter of the late Victor and Elsie Manklow Burnell. Joan graduated from Port Chester High School in 1951 and worked at Homelite Corporation in Port Chester.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Sandra Jay and her husband, John of Shelton, two grandchildren, Ashley Jackson and her husband, Neil of Shelton, and Peter Jay and girlfriend, Amy of Trumbull, and two great grandchildren Avery and Connor Jackson. She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn in 2008 and a brother, William in 1990. 

Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 1st at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan may be made to Bridgeport Hospital Foundation, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in honor of her great grandchildren who spent many weeks in the care of the NICU.
