Margaret Anastasia Obituary

Margaret Ann D’Amato Anastasia, 96 was born in Norwalk, CT on April 3, 1924 to the late Carmine (“Charlie the Barber”) and Mary D’Amato.  She entered Heaven on April 25, 2020 after a long and meaningful life.

Margie was a lifelong resident of Norwalk, except for the years of her marriage to Patrick Anastasia when she lived in Westport.  She worked very hard over the years and dedicated herself to supporting and raising her four children. Margie was gifted with a beautiful singing voice, and was a remarkable Italian gourmet cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays.  Margie crocheted, loved the beach, and in her younger years would swim laps along Compo Beach and Calf Pasture Beach shorelines.  Margie enjoyed fashion and wearing brightly colored coordinated outfits, including earrings and, of course, her pocketbook always at her side.  Margie was spiritual her entire life and over the years enjoyed attending church services, participating in the choir, and other religious activities.  Margie was smart and inquisitive and looked forward to having lively discussions about current events, religion, and other controversial subjects.

Margie will be deeply missed by her children, Patricia Anastasia Babey (Peter) of Madison, CT, Robert Anastasia (Susan) of Lithia, FL, Larraine DeMeo of Bridgeport, CT, and Michael Anastasia of Norwalk, CT.  She is survived by her sister Ann Kish, sister-in-law Katie D’Amato, grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Margie had 12 siblings, and was predeceased by her sisters Mamie Setti (Dominic), Theresa Pantalone (Joseph), Mary Mish (Fred), Katherine Sarosi, Rosemary Engel (Flash) and Adele D’Amato, and her brothers John D’Amato (Joan), Frederick D’Amato (Katie), Charles D’Amato (Lois), Vincent D’Amato (Janet) and Tony D’Amato.
