Margaret J. Mayor, age 92 of Stratford, died peacefully at Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stratford on May 1, 2021. She was the wife of the late Anthony P. Mayor, Jr. Margaret was born in Bridgeport on March 13, 1929, the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Sklepko) Motika.
Margaret was a kind woman with vast artistic ability. Her twin sister Fran notes that she was a wonderful gardener and could make anything grow. She was also accomplished at sewing and was known for creating Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for all of the newborns in the family. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Mayor Strazza and her husband Nicholas of Stratford, her son Steven P. Mayor of Sandy Hook, sisters Helen Chmielewski of Wilton, her twin Frances Yorzinski of Guilford and Elizabeth (Betty) Ferrara and her husband Leonard of Palm City, FL. Margaret is also survived by her loving grandchildren Nicole Strazza, Anthony Strazza and his wife Brittany, and Steven Mayor, her great grandson Jones Strazza and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brothers Andrew, George and John Motika and her sister Anna Cianci.
Margaret's family and friends are invited to the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Saturday, May 15 from 9:30 to 11 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11 and burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk.
