Mario Laracca Obituary


Mario Laracca, age 84 of Norwalk, beloved husband of Pasqualina Laracca passed away peacefully on Thursday October 21, 2022.  Born on March 11, 1937 in Minturno, Providence of Latina, Italy. He was the son of the late Raffael Laracca and Nicolina Conte. Mario immigrated to the United States in 1962. During his time in Italy he served in the Italian Military. Mario was a retired bricklayer for Frank Mercede and Sons Inc with over 40 years of dedicated service. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving father and husband. He was very happy around his family always remembering good old fashioned Italian customs and traditions. He loved soccer games, gardening, and making home made wine. In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years, survivors include his daughter Maria Laracca Valiante and her husband Michael Valiante. He also has one sister Rosa Zinicola and brother Philip Laracca of Argentina. He also has two brothers of Norwalk, Nicola Laracca and Antonio Laracca and sister Maria Brocco of Newtown. He also has several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 10 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk, with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.  Mario’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Tuesday from 6-8 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. (www.alz.org).
