Mary Bova Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Bova, age 72 of Weston, CT, died peacefully at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by family on October 24, 2021. She was the loving wife for 48 years of Thomas H. Bova.  Mary was born November 16, 1948 in Kensington, CT, daughter of the late Richard and Jane (Munson) Fagan and has lived in Weston for the past 36 years.  She was a graduate of Mary Immaculate Academy High School and Central Connecticut State University where she received degrees in French and Education.  Mary ran her own business, Bova Advertising Specialties, for over 35 years until her recent retirement. She was a former member of the Weston Young Women’s Club. An avid crocheter, Mary knitted thousands of scarves for homeless shelters in recent years. She was an avid Yankee fan, lover of Broadway, and enjoyed travels up the New England coast. Most of all she deeply loved her family and friends. To her grandchildren, she was an adoring “Mema”. Mary’s smile would light up a room and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband Tom, Mary is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Bova and Kathryn Bova, her son Thomas Bova and his wife Kimberly Bova, grandchildren Ellie Bova and Max Bova, her sisters Kathleen Fagan, Patricia Singarella, and Noreen Fagan, her brothers Richard Fagan and Christopher Fagan and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Weston, private by Mary’s request. Entombment followed at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to The Weston EMS (www.westonems.com/donate) and Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrf.org/other-ways-give).
