Mary J. Dunford Merrill (Evarts)

Mary J Dunford Merrill (Evarts), of Palm Coast Fl, passed away on September 23, 2023. She was born on June 24, 1938, in Norwalk Connecticut, the daughter of Walter H. and Ellen J. Dunford

A loving, compassionate, and caring wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose family meant everything to her. Family came first and was above all else to Mary, a value she instilled in those around her.  She graduated from Norwalk High School and then completed her studies at Katherine Gibbs Institute. While she resided in Florida for the last 7 years, her love of New England never left her especially during the fall when the temperatures dropped, and the leaves changed. She will be forever remembered for her sense of style, her love of decorating for the holidays and for the precious time spent with family.

Mrs. Merrill is survived by her husband of 7 years James P. Merrill; Scott Evarts and his wife Diane of Norwalk CT, Richard Evarts and wife Genia of Tampa Fl, Tracey Driscoll and her husband Daniel of Boxborough MA, Stepsons Peter and David Merrill, Sister Joyce Deering, and her husband James of Norwalk CT; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sibling William Dunford.

Visitation is at Magner Funeral Home from 10:00 to 10:30AM followed by a service from 10:30 to 11AM on September 30, 2023, at 12 Mott Avenue Norwalk, CT. There will be a graveside service afterwards at St. John’s cemetery at 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT.
