While Stationed at Chicopee Air Force base in Massachusetts, he met Peggy Tallman. Michael and Peggy were married and their first child Michelle was born. Michael moved his little family back to his hometown of Stamford CT, and began his career in the food industry working at Grand Central Market. In 1973 they opened Mike’s Deli on East Avenue in Norwalk, Michael’s pride and joy, a legacy that is carried on through his family today.

Grandchildren, Billy Keeley [Kathryn], Gregory, Matty, and Molly Goldstein, Kaitlyn, Chase and Reid Maggio, and great-grandson Micah as well as several nieces and their families. In addition to his ex-wife Peggy, Michael is survived by his sisters Eileen [Anthony] Iannazzi and Mary [William] Smith and the countless relatives and friends that became family along the way.

Michael was a natural athlete who enjoyed spending his free time golfing, skiing (water and snow), and boating with his family and friends. He also had a fondness for Disney World, Lake George, and was always ready for a road trip. Michael loved life, enjoyed telling stories and was always quick with a joke!
