Michele Leggett Obituary

Michele Ann Leggett, 76, died peacefully on March 17, 2024 at her long time home in Bridgeport, CT. Raised in Norwalk, she was the youngest daughter of the late Frederick and Rose (St. John) Leggett. She was the companion of Renae Heyde for 47 years.

Michele earned her degree from Hiram Scott University in Nebraska where she went to be with her sister Jeanne with whom she found fun and mischief throughout their lives. She was an athlete from a young age enjoying golf, swimming, softball and basketball and eventually became a physical education teacher. Later in life, at the dawn of the Age of Technology, Michele worked as a data analyst and computer programmer doing market research. A bit of a pioneer in the coming computer craze, she began that work when computers filled up an entire room. A true adventurer at heart Michele was up for just about anything: a carnival, a festival, a movie, a meal, the beach, a ride, you name it.  She travelled the world on Summer trips with her sisters and mother, spent many Summer weeks in Provincetown with Renae at their time share on Cape Cod, she had wonderful childhood memories of the beach in Long Branch NJ and loved a good road trip. Whether a week away in another country, a weekend at the beach, or to just grab a hot dog and sit watching the tides roll, Michele loved being out in the world and having experiences. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love of her family, a love of travel, the beach, sports and an expressly generous independent spirit.

She is survived by her best friend and companion, Renae, step-daughter Lorraine Heyde, loving nieces and nephews, Amy and Michael Brandstatter and Rosemary Ferraro and John Anzalone, as well as several great nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her parents, sisters Helen and Jeanne and step-daughter Sandra.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, March 25 from 10-12 at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk, with a prayer service to begin at 11am. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. Memorial donations may be made to: Shriners Children’s (Shrinerschildrens.org)

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
