Monica Maria Waldman

Monica Maria Waldman, 74, of Norwalk, entered eternal life on May 24, 2022, at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, daughter of Tomás Miñan and Peregrina Viñas Miñan, she was the loving wife of Mark Waldman for 26 years. She worked as a dental insurance specialist for 20 years.

Monica was the matriarch who always cared for her loved ones, often sacrificing her time and effort to comfort their needs above hers.  In her final days, she worried that others had to care for her, as she never wished to “burden” them.  She had a passion for simple pleasures. She loved nature, especially gardening: for her it was a way to communicate with God and tend to His creation.  She loved cooking. She loved to please guests in her home and show her love by creating a great-tasting and beautifully presented meal.  She loved scenic car rides up the New England coast and into the mountains of Vermont and New York. Now she has a much better perspective of those mountains and of us.

Monica is survived by her husband Mark Albert Waldman; son Francisco Marcelo Failla and his wife Hannah Rolfes; son Fabian Dario Failla and his wife Maria Garcia and their three children, Monica’s grandchildren, Kahlil, Lucius, and Valentina Failla; and her brother-in-law Michael Waldman and his wife Mindy Zinn.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, from 11 AM-1 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, followed by a prayer service at 1 PM, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.  Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain, SD.
