Nancy M. (McGarry) Tirella

Nancy M. Tirella, 84, of Oxford, CT passed peacefully on March 18, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Newark, NJ, the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Bankes) McGarry, she was the wife of her high school sweetheart the late Ralph C. Tirella Sr.  She was also predeceased by her loving son, Ralph Tirella, Jr.

Having grown up in Norwalk, Nancy graduated Norwalk High school in 1955. She worked for both Armstrong Tire and Charles of the Ritz and then raised her 3 children. Nancy was a proud and loving mother. When Nancy returned to the work force, she joined  Peoples Bank for 30 years until her retirement. Nancy and her husband moved from their home in Wilton, to Oxford in 2004. 

Spending time with her family was most important to Nancy. She loved traveling with her husband of 59 years to Italy, Ireland, Las Vegas and other destinations. Nancy also loved traveling frequently with the entire family to Aruba.

Nancy is survived by her children; Elaine Miner and her husband Bruce of Beacon Falls, Patrick Tirella and his wife Michelle of Ansonia, daughter-in-law Lorraine Tirella of Oxford, seven cherished grandchildren; Ralph III, Jennifer, Kevin, Matthew (Jennifer), and Melissa Tirella and Everett and Eric Miner, two great-grandchildren, Philip and Melanie Tirella, as well as her sister, Linda Bell of Norwalk and other loving relatives.  

Her family will receive friends at Magner Funeral Home at 12 Mott Ave. Norwalk, CT on Thursday, March 24, from 9-11 AM, with a prayer service to begin at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
