Obituary

On Friday, March 31, 2023 Norma Perkins, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully.

Norma was born in Warwick, RI on March 17, 1931. Daughter to Lula May and Thomas Wylie Sr. She was predeceased by her husband of over sixty years, Richard E. Perkins. Norma is survived by her brother, Thomas Wylie Jr., her sons and daughters-in-laws, Steven and Beckie Perkins (Alexandria, VA) and David and Robin Perkins (Charlotte, NC), her daughters and son-in-law Mary Susan Perkins (Milford, CT) and Leslie and Tom Hagel (Fairfield, CT). She is also survived by six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and seven devoted nieces and nephews.

In 1962, Norma moved from her native state of Rhode Island to the Silvermine neighborhood of Norwalk. New England and these areas always had a special place in her heart and will live on in her children. She loved to travel, taking many trips all across the country. Norma loved to play tennis, golf and bridge as a long time member of Shore & Country Club and Silvermine Golf Club. A talented artist, Norma enjoyed taking classes at Silvermine Art Guild and many of her paintings adorn the homes of her family. Volunteer work was also one of her passions. Throughout her life, she spent many hours helping at Norwalk Hospital’s Treasure House and working with United Way as well as other school and church related charities.

The family is having a private burial at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. A Memorial will be held to celebrate her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, CT Chapter 607, Norwalk, CT 06850.
