Paul Lane Obituary

     Paul J. Lane, age 93 of Westport, passed peacefully on June 15, 2021 surrounded by his family.  He was the loving husband for 51 years of the late Patricia Small Lane.  Born in Bethel, CT on January 20, 1928, Paul was the son of the late Daniel Joseph, Sr., and Pauline Mullaney Lane, and his stepmother, Stasia McManus Lane.  He graduated from the University of Notre Dame.  Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during the Korean War.  He will be most remembered as a revered teacher and coach at Staples High School in Westport for over 30 years.  He was also an avid golfer and tennis player.

     Paul is survived by his children and their spouses Janet Horelik (Dan), Paul “Skip” Lane, Jr. (Kim), Peter Lane (Lisa) and Kristin Reilly (Brian), siblings Mark “Chubby” and Pat Lane, Patricia and Bill Willet and Joanne Lane, grandchildren Jacqueline, Jennifer, Jocelyn, Dan Jr., Taylor, Maddie, Erin, Annie, Sophie and Bailey, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Paul is predeceased by Daniel Joseph Lane, Jr., Mary Kelly, Peter Lane, Therese Lane, Judy Pederson, Linda Palmieri, and Greg Lane.

     Paul was laid to rest next to his wife Patricia at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bethel, Ct in a private graveside service.

A celebration is being planned this fall at Staples High School’s homecoming football game.
