Raffaela Piro, age 87 of Norwalk, died peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital on Wednesday, July 25. She was the loving wife of the late Edmondo Piro. Raffaela was born in Barano d’Ischia, Napoli, Italy on August 1, 1930, the daughter of the late Sebastiano Luigi DiScala and Caterina Angela DiScala. She loved cooking and caring for her family and also enjoyed gardening and her love of music.
Raffaela is survived by her son John C. Piro (Francesca) of Montreal, her daughters Rose Piro Forte (Ron) of Old Saybrook, Georgette “Gigi” Petrini (Jerry), and Anna Piro Swanson, all of Norwalk, three brothers, Aniello, Antonio, and Giorgio DiScala, all of Montreal. She is also survived by her grandchildren Laura, Edmund, Cathy, Jason, Matthew, Jerry, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Ronald John and Marisa, her great grandchildren Anthony, Olivia, Stefano, Adamo, Nathan, Nicole, and Adriana, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son Louis G. Piro and her brother Luigi DiScala.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 31, 10AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk, with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery. Raffaela’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Monday, July 30 from 4-8PM.
