Robert Kramer, Sr. Obituary

Robert (Bob) Thomas Kramer, Sr. of Norwalk passed away peacefully at home on November 3, 2021. He was born May 23, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, and was the son of John Edward Kramer Sr. and Elizabeth Young Kramer. He was 93 years old.

 

After high school, he served in the Army during the Occupation of Japan and he returned home on Christmas Eve 1947. He received various medals from the Army. Upon return from the Army he met the love of his life Mary Elizabeth Quinn. They were married November 4, 1950 and lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY until 1955.

 

They moved to Connecticut where he worked for Pitney Bowes as an engineer for over 33 years. He was always very detailed in his work. They had six children and lived at 23 Eagle Road. All six of his children graduated from Central Catholic High School and was always so proud of that. He was a dedicated parishioner at St. Mary’s Church where he was lecturer and a Eucharist minster.

 

A 64-year resident of Norwalk, Bob was an active volunteer in several Norwalk organizations. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council #46 and served as Past Grand Knight. He was also in the 4th Degree Assembly #100 where he served as Past Faithful Navigator (PFN). He was Captain of the Honor Guard. He was honored as Knights of Columbus Knight of the year. He was also an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

 

He was longtime New York Mets fan and also looked forward to going to all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. However you knew him, you probably thought he was the best dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, and neighbor you could ever have.

 

He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Mary Elizabeth Kramer and great granddaughter Kaelyn Delre. He is survived by his daughter Margaret Cerulo and husband Ralph of Bridgeport, CT, son, Robert Jr. and wife Patricia of Norwalk, CT, son John and wife Barbara of Stratford, CT, son Edward and wife Amy of Marco Island, FL, son William and wife Sandra of Norwalk, CT and daughter Kathleen D’Alessio and husband Phil of Weston, CT.  He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren – Coleen (Brett), Megan (Jason), Ralph (Lauren), Bobby (Michelina), Jessica (Brian), Allison (Ryan), Kevin, Karen (Jason), John (Paige), Erin (Tommy), Andrew, Ali, Haley, Jack, and Christian. Eighteen great grandchildren, Matthew, Drew, Jillian, Elizabeth, Julia, John, Caleb, Emery, Emily, Katie, Jaxon, Riley, Charlotte, Gavin, Tyler, Ryan, and Lilliana. 

 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to ElderHouse, 7 Lewis Street, Norwalk, CT.

 

Calling hours on Sunday, November 7th from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Street, Norwalk, CT. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 8th at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew’s Church, 216 Scribner Ave, Norwalk, CT. Burial at St. John’s Cemetery to follow
