Rosa Sparagna Obituary

Rosa L. Sparagna, 83, formerly of Norwalk, passed away on April 5, 2024 at Azalea Gardens in Tallahassee, FL, in the company of her loving family. She was born in Minturno, Italy on October 15th 1940, to the late Giuseppe and Maria (Graziano) Laracca, she was also predeceased by her husband Enrico Sparagna.

Rosa immigrated to the United States with her late husband, Enrico in 1961, settling in Norwalk where they raised their four daughters together. She was employed for over 20 years at Loehmann’s. Rosa was also an active member of St. Matthew’s parish for over 45 years. She was a Eucharistic minister, a food pantry volunteer and served with St. Martha’s ministry. 

She enjoyed cooking, shopping, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rosa is survived by four daughters, Luciana Mazzo and her husband Scott, Maria Polidore and her husband Mark, Valeria Martin and her husband Jon and Anna MacIver and her husband Chris, as well as her grandchildren, Steve(Jessica) and Erica Mazzo, Robert, Victoria(Joshua Clark) and Danielle Martin and Jack, Ryan and Luke MacIver, and her great grandchildren; Sofia, Stella, Antonio and Cara. In addition to her husband and brothers, Jack and Paul, Rosa was predeceased by her eldest grandson Joseph Mazzo but is survived by her late grandson’s wife, Emma Mazzo and sister-in-law Lucia Laracca.

Her family will receive friends on Friday April 12th from 5-7 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 13th at 10AM, at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew’s Church, Alzheimer’s Association or Notre Dame Health and Rehabilitation.
