Rose (Acunzo) Cassavechia Hliva

Rose Cassavechia Hliva, lifelong resident of Norwalk, died on February 2, 2021 at Autumn Lakes in Norwalk, just weeks shy of her 100th birthday.  The daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Volia) Acunzo, she was predeceased by two husbands; Geno Cassavechia and Joseph Hliva, as well as her six siblings.

Rose was a woman of faith and family. She was often known to say “God did a wonderful job with my life…Praise the Lord!” She was a loving and very devoted mother of her three boys who were the center of her life’s purpose. She is survived by her son Gene F. Cassavechia and wife Anne of New Fairfield, son Donald A. Cassavechia of Norwalk and son Anthony Cassavechia and his wife Denise of Texas. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Debbie, Mandy, Matthew and Jason of New Fairfield, Donald, Jr. of Norwalk, and Nick and Christine of Texas, as well as several great-grandchildren. 

She had worked for Character Novelty Toy Company in Norwalk for over 40 years and was proud of serving as a Union Representative. She will be remembered as a very successful woman and mother who did so much with so very little. She lived her life as she had hoped, with the Lord's blessing. She passed peacefully in her sleep, and is now in a better place. 

A memorial service is being planned for the Spring, around her birth date.
