Velma A. Syring, age 100 of New Canaan, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 12. She was the wife of the late William F. Syring. Velma was born in Norwalk on May 25, 1918, the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Helen Sandor Lazar. She was a graduate of Norwalk High School and retired from Pitney Bowes in 1980 where she had worked in the marketing department as a sales statistitianist. She was a longtime Norwalk resident and moved to New Canaan in 1991. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters.
Velma was predeceased by her siblings Helen Pramer, Olga Smith, Eleanor Buono and Julius Lazar and is survived by several nieces and nephews
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ladislaus Church, 25 Cliff St., Norwalk at 10 AM Saturday, February 16, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Velma’s name may be made to St. Ladislaus Church.
