Daniel A Woods

     Daniel A. Woods, age 80, of Killingworth, CT and former longtime Norwalk resident, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, January 22, 2015.  He was the loving husband of the late Judith Doyle Woods.  Dan was born in the Bronx, NY on February 24, 1934, the son of the late James and Kathleen Woods.  He was a graduate of Norwalk High School, served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired tile contractor and owner of Colonial Tile in Norwalk.    Dan was a former commissioner for the Cranbury Community Athletic Assoc. and was involved with them for many years.  He was an avid NY Mets and UCONN Women’s Basketball fan, enjoyed crafts and woodworking and loved to be with his wife, children and grandchildren.

     Survivors include five children; Wayne W. Woods and his wife Lori of Trumbull, Sharon A. Woods of Norwalk, David J. Woods of Clinton, Michele L. Cichowicz and her husband Troy and Jennifer L Woods all of Norwalk.  Also surviving are a brother, John Woods and his wife Patty of Deep River, CT, sister-in-law Barbara Woods of NY, grandchildren Carolyn, Kevin, Troy, Jessica, Kyle, Kelli, Julia, Corey, Louis and Kayla, a great grandchild Skylar and several nieces and nephews.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 30, 10 AM at St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Pl., Norwalk.  Burial with full military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.  Dan’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Thursday from 5-8 PM.  Donations in his name may be made to the Whittingham Cancer Center, c/o Norwalk Hospital Foundation, 34 Maple St., Norwalk, CT, 06856.
