Very sad news! Rick and I were good friends from all of our sports growing up and the fact that we were both Sheffer's Heffers from our homeroom 113 at RHS. I was fortunate to have been able to kindle some great memories at the last reunion I attended, and we were able to sit with Jim Bouton as well. Rick will be missed.

Sad news. Rick was a dear friend of mine at Ridgewood High School. He had a great personality and a wonderful smile, befitting of the Dentist he became. He will be missed!

The pain of loss is something that none of us can escape and my heart goes out to you and your family. Gail, I wanted to let you know what a huge impact Dr. Lyon had on people that are very dear to my heart. My mother, Jodelle Murphy O'Brien, had both her sister and mother blessed enough to work alongside Dr. Lyon. My aunt, Susan Murphy Cundari, worked with Richard for 34 years as the assistant and office manger and my grandmother, Eleanor Murphy, worked with them for approximately 9 years as the office bookkeeper. I hear stories that Richard was wickedly funny and had such a contagious laugh, soon everyone would be cracking up. When Eleanor laughed (as she did often when Richard was around) her belly would jiggle up and down, causing Richard to laugh even louder! They would comment on how he was such a kind man and very skilled. He would do successful procedures in the office that were advanced and ahead of their time. Aunt Susan has commented that assisting Dr. Lyon was like watching an artist at work. He could do math in his head faster than anyone on a calculator. He brought to the office environment a very professional and warm family feeling and helped to create a very close group. I thank you and your family for sharing him with everyone. I am so grateful his life crossed paths with two people that are very dear to me.
In love & light,
Susan O'Brien Moore

I spent more than a few summer days with Rick in Bisceglie-Scribner stands watching Scott and my son, Jordan play Little League. The Rick I will remember always had a smile, quick wit, and loved to watch the kids play ball. Grandma Gail, Sean, Cindy, Scott and Sydney are foremost in our thoughts and hearts.

Julie and I were saddened when we heard of Rick's passing. Rick and I worked closely together for many years on a professional basis not to mention all the times we spent together on the golf course in many different locales. We have fond memories of Christmas parties at your home along with much partying at Silver Springs. We will always remember Rick in this light as a hard working fun loving person. We are all just passing through on the way to our final destination- Rick has arrived ahead of us and with the Grace of God we will meet with him again. Julie and I wish to express our condolences to Gail, Sean, Tracey and all the rest of the Lyon family.

My deepest condolences to the Lyon family. May you find comfort in the beautiful words found at Revelation 21:3 & 4, where God promises us that He will soon eliminate all pain, suffering and death. While we wait for this promise to be fulfilled, may the fond memories of Dr. Richard comfort you and ease your pain.

I write this with a heavy heart. Rick, I worked for you for thirty-four years and in that time we met some wonderful people. You never spoke an unkind word and performed some amazing surgical procedures with the skills of a very talented Oral Surgeon. You had one instrument that you lovingly called a "SWEETHEART' and that one instrument was called for more often than not. You had nicknames for many things. your nickname for me was 'PHIL', because I would always have my tool box ready. You and Bill would just ignore me, while probably praying that i didn't blow the place down. We had some good laughs and we also had tears. I saw your beautiful family grow and you saw mine. You worked hard, played hard and now Rick, it is time for you to rest in peace. It was my honor to have known and worked with you for so many years.

Gail, Sean, Tracey and Families, there is nothing I can say to you, that you don't already know except that I love you and will keep you in my prayers. God Bless!
