Ida Riccardi of Norwalk was born in Bridgeport Connecticut in 1920 and passed away peacefully at home surrounded with loved ones. She was a extremely loving, generous, warm, strong, vivacious woman who loved life, family and traveling the world. Spending time with friends and family was always a priority and treat and left everyone better for knowing her. She was born to the late Emma and Cesare Riccardi and was predeceased by her sisters Elda Ritzo of Norwalk, Rose O’Reilly of Fort Worth, Texas, Frances Riccardi, Mary Raymond of Melbourne, Florida, and her niece Lynn Raymond of Southbury, Connecticut.
She attended Norwalk Schools and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1938. After graduation she took evening classes at Merrill and Butler Business Schools in Norwalk. She worked at Burndy Corp for over 30 years as a Secretary, Personal Supervisor and then as a Personnel Manager before her retirement in 1986. Prior to Burndys Ida was employed at Norwalk Lock Company and at Norwalk Tire and Rubber Company. She also worked as a part time Hostess at the Blue Moon restaurant for many years.
The American Red Cross was lucky to have had Idas generous spirit for 35 yrs in which she was on the Board of Directors for 15yrs. She was also on the Board of the former Norwalk YMCA Norwalk, Wilton Chapter, Board of Directors as the President for Fairfield County Seniors Group, President for AARP Norwalk Chapter, Board of Directors St. Mary’s Golden Age Seniors, and was the President of the Credit Union while working at Burndys Corp.
She will be greatly missed by the many people who were honored enough to have loved her. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Crosby, her nieces and nephews, Sandra Dominick (James Ferrone), Carolyn Van Oss (Vincent), Gail Legere (David), Peter Ritzo (Michele), Avis O’Rielly, Donna Stapleton, Eileen Wilson, Kathy Raymond, Susan Bridges, Richard Raymond, Patty Raymond, Vickie Raymond, Joan DeMarco, Patty Angione. She will also be missed by her many great nieces and nephews that loved her immensely. Cynthia Gardella (James), Randall Dominick(Diane), Vincent Van Oss (Tracey), Michael Van Oss (Ilyssa), David Legere, Karon Legere, Christopher Legere (Maria), Katie and Jay Lemieux, John and Jennifer Holecz, Joe and Mylissa Demarko, Charles and Ashley Anjone, Guy Stapleton, Grant Stapleton (Samantha), Ryan Wilson (Kendra), Garrett Wilson, Richard Raymond, Jesse Raymond, Frank Raymond, Jason Raymond, , Brad Welch, Bryan Welch, Justin Keith Kasvelt, Katy Bridges, Jake Bridges, Sarah Demers, Danielle Demers, and Ryan Demers. Plus many great great nieces and nephews that loved her immensely.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ida will be celebrated on Monday, May 2, 11 AM at St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Pl., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. Her family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Sunday from 4-7 PM.
