Ira Donald Baker, Sr., age 66 of Norwalk, died at the Norwalk Hospital on Tuesday, April 25. He was the loving husband and best friend for 13 years of Elizabeth “Betty” Kovatch. Donald was born in Tampa, FL on September 10, 1950, the son of the late Edwin Baker, Sr. and the late Yvonne Grace Baker. He served in the U.S. Marines for 22 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. He had worked more recently as a letter carrier for the Ridgefield Post Office. Donald enjoyed reading, watching classic movies, puzzles and playing cards. He had a soft spot for dogs of which he had several. He was dedicated to his family and will be dearly missed.
Survivors also include his children Dena Jenkins and her husband Joseph, Ira D. Baker, Jr. and his wife Susan, all of NC, his step-children Jennifer Calvo and her husband Jorge of Ansonia, Richard Kovatch and his wife Santina of Norwalk, his siblings Norman Baker, Richard Baker, Alyce Hausman and Yvette Sandborn, grandchildren Robyn, Ryan, Cadence, Madison, Connor and Matthew, and many nieces and nephews.
