John F Denicola

April 3, 1927 ~ October 23, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

John F. Denicola, age 90, son of the late John Denicola and Clara (Muoio) Denicola, died peacefully at home on October 23, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones. John was born in Norwalk on April 3, 1927.

John attended local schools and when World War II broke out in 1941, he was so patriotic that he enlisted and joined the Merchant Marines. He saw duty in North Africa, where he was injured. He required surgery and was left in North Africa in a hospital. When he returned to the states at a later date, he was stationed in Sheepshead Bay, New York where he met his beloved wife and whom he married in 1948.

After returning from the war, John worked several jobs but ultimately found work at Blythe and Company on Wall Street in New York. It was there that he developed his knowledge and love of the stock market, which he discussed quite often along with politics and all sports (especially baseball and the New York Yankees).

After his job on Wall Street, he had an opportunity to open his own business, Tunis Hill Hardware, in Fairfield.

In addition to his beloved wife Josephine (Jo), John is survived by 2 daughters, Cheryl Alberta, Pamela Auerbach; a brother Alfred Denicola; grandchildren, Jason Piacente and his wife Courtney, Tiffany Cavanagh and her husband Steven, and David Auerbach, and a great grandchild, Lynley Piacente, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Deborah Piacente, and a sister Eleanor Giacomini.

John loved life, enjoyed talking to people and most of all was a devoted husband and father who loved his family.
