Lena V. (Verna) Lipira

Lena (Verna) Lipira, age 94 of Westport, died on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at her home,  with her husband Dominic by her side. Born in Bridgeport and raised in Ridgefield, the daughter of the late Mario and Eugenia Verna, Lena was a retired executive secretary. A loving family woman who enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting for her family, she was also very dedicated to her church.  In her younger days she enjoyed painting and gardening. 

In addition to her husband Dominic of 70 years, Lena is survived by her son Robert Lipira, 3 grandchildren; Brian Lipira, Danielle Lipira and Dr. Cecilia Lipira Ghirlanda, a great-grandson Leo, and a brother Faust Verna of Danbury. She was predeceased by a son Dr. Eugene Lipira.

Her family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, from 3 to 6 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Monday, at St. Mary Church, 669 West Ave, Norwalk with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
