William Joseph Dudas, 95, of Norwalk, died on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015 at his home. Born in Norwalk, the son of the late Joseph and Julia (Levay) Dudas, he was the loving husband of the late Lucille G. Dudas. He was a partner and co-founder of A&D Vending Service, which was bought by S&S Tobacco and from which Mr. Dudas retired. Having served in the US Army at Normandy during World War II, he was a member of the American Legion, Post # 12.
A well-known local baseball player and hook slide aficionado, known as Billy to his friends, he was honored by the Old Timers for his success. Having played with many area teams, including the American Legion, Old Well, Night Riders, Holy Names of Stamford and more, he savored playing an exhibition game back in the day, against the St. Louis Cardinals with the All-Star team from Stamford. Following his playing days he continued his involvement in sports by participating with the Biddy League Basketball and Pop Warner Football programs.
Predeceased by his siblings Joseph Dudas and Olga Alexander, he is survived by three generations of loving nieces and nephews.
