David Louis Armentano

September 20, 1939 ~ November 11, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

     David Louis Armentano, age 78 of Norwalk, died peacefully at Autumn Lake Healthcare on Saturday, November 11.  He was the loving husband for 47 years of Angela Pinto Armentano.  David was born in Hartford on September 20, 1939, the son of the late Nicholas and Marie Champagne Armentano and has lived locally for most of his life.  He graduated from Hamden High School in 1957 and was a retired grocer, having worked from 1955 to 2017.  He managed stores with Grand Union, First National and finally with Acosta where he worked until his illness.  David was a wonderful cook who enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends, with pizza being one of his specialties.  He enjoyed gardening and always had a multitude of hot peppers.  He was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox and Bruins, and the Cleveland Browns.

     Survivors also include a son, Anthony Armentano of Norwalk, daughter Joanne Armentano of Bristol, grandson Austin Enos, Aunt Eleanor Reddin and many nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by his step-mother Bernice Holmes and half-brother William Donlon.

     A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 15, 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk.  Family and friends will meet at church.  David’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Council 14360, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk, 06850.
