Welcome to the memorial page for

Gloria LaVerne Buccieri

September 10, 1930 ~ September 14, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Gloria LaVerne Buccieri, age 87, a lifelong resident of Norwalk was granted her angel wings on September 14, 2017.  Her final days were spent surrounded by her beloved family and friends. Though her family is heartbroken over her sudden departure, we take solace that her final days were filled with joy and celebration of her recent birthday.  Especially comforting was knowing that she was alert, full of her life’s treasured memories, and that her passing was peaceful in her sleep.

Daughter of the late Aquilino and Lorraine Santos, Gloria was predeceased by her husband of 23 years, Frank Buccieri of Italy.  She leaves behind the love and joy of her life, her “boys” and their spouses; Frank D. and Darlene Buccieri of Ansonia, CT; Michael A. and Nadine Buccieri of Lebanon, ME; Victor R. and Maria Buccieri of Wilsonville, OR; Robert A. Buccieri of Norwalk, CT and Anthony J. and Antonella Buccieri of Bristol CT.   Gloria was blessed with 14 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren whom adore her, and sisters: Marlene Garofalo of Ridgefield, Angie Airoso of Vallejo, CA and Dolly Ascona of Georgetown, TX, and brother Hans G. Walter of Lebanon, ME.

Gloria’s entire life was devoted to her husband and the boys.  Gloria will always be remembered for her sense of humor, light hearted jokes, but mostly her laughter.  Some of her hobbies included writing poetry, drawing, music, dancing and her favorite was crocheting.   Gloria’s poetry collection was often featured and recited amongst her circle of friends.  One her proudest personal accomplishments was the recording of her song, “Have some more Signora” by Liberace’s brother, George Liberace and accompanied by his full big band orchestra. A simple lyric matched with a big band sound in an up-temp beat exemplified her American-Italian household and their lives; food, family, friends, laughter and more food.

Her family will receive friends from5-8 PM, Tuesday, September 19th at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk, CT.  Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM at St Jerome’s Catholic Church, 23 Half Mile Rd, Norwalk, with burial at St John’s Cemetery. In honor of Gloria’s years of volunteer service with the American Red Cross and participation in blood drives, one may donate blood in her memory, or Memorial donations may be made to: American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
