April 6, 1947 ~ September 14, 2016 (age 69) 69 Years Old

     John Joseph Salvato, age 69 of Danbury. Died peacefully at the Regional Hospice Center in Danbury on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 after a gallant battle with cancer.  He was the loving husband for 36 years of Joan Andronaco Salvato.  John was born in Norwalk on April 6, 1947, the son of the late Salvatore and Fanny Capuano Salvato, Sr. and he lived here for most of his life.  John worked for many years at McMahon Ford in Norwalk.  He appreciated classic cars, was an avid New York Rangers fan and loved his grandchildren.

     In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son Jonathan Salvato and his wife Jessica, sister Mary Riccio and her husband Robert, brother Anthony Salvato and his wife Rosemarie, sister-in-law Carol Salvato, and his four grandchildren; Angel, Drew, Jr., Hunter and Lilyana Salvato who he loved dearly.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.  John was also predeceased by his son Drew Salvato. Sr. and his brother Salvatore Salvato.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 19, 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave.  Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.  John’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Sunday from 3-7 PM.  John’s family would like to thank the Regional Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion; especially Dave Ceponis, Carol Rogers and Colleen Kolf.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Hockey Fights Cancer (http://www.nhlpa.com/Giving-Back/Hockey-Fights-Cancer).
